I won best answer for step by step instructions on how to put new line on a reel…the asker sounded very pleased, said it worked. Go here to see my advice

Now as for bass fishing tips LIVE BAIT. Nothing works better than a shiner and a bobber, no matter the time of year. Other than that use sanko worms or rapalas.
If none of these work you might have to try dynamite…
I’ll speak to largemouth tips for the current time of year. I’m in Missouri and they have been killing top water and crankbaits. I have mainly been fishing small bodies of water (ponds, strip pits, etc) but I would still start with top water in shallows even when lake fishing right now. I always seem to do pretty well with a small bass jig (bitsy bug) with a plastic crawl.
Let me know if I can be of more help.

Spinner baits and worms. If you are unsure about the use of either, stop by your local bait shop and ask to see the spinner baits and how to rig up a worm for bass.. Good luck and have fun!
Lay the spool of new line on its side and use the reel to wind line onto the reel spool. Then to get the twist out of the line have a partner (or place it on the ground, holder, etc…) and pull all of the line off the reel across a yard. Reel the line back onto the reel and allow it to lay free in the yard while doing so. This will allow the line to be spooled onto the reel twist free. You can also let all of the line off the reel spool while pulling it behind a boat at slow speeds. This too will remove the twist that often happens on a spinning reel. Make sure there is not a lure attached to the line when doing this.
