Baits ~ Hellgrammites, crayfish, night crawlers, or live minnow.
Lures ~ In-line spinners, plastic worms, plastic ‘craws, plastic lizards, crank baits, bass jigs, and small little crappie jigs.
I have caught a load of smallmouth bass using spring lizards. I used to do alot of wading when I was able. I would go to a small creek and catch all the spring lizards I could by turning over rocks and moss. Then, I would wade a river very close to where I live. U want to hook the spring lizards through there head and carry them in a quart jar. Smallmouth bass can’t resist them. They will usually put some slack in your line and then "run" with the lizard. That’s when u set the hook. This also works for catching them in lakes and ponds.
