Fishing tips for Lake Tahoe?
November 9, 2009
Anyone have any good fishing tips for Lake Tahoe. I will be traveling there this weekend and I would like to do some fishing. We have a boat, and I can fish off the shore. Any tips on lures or bate I should use. I am so used to bass fishing here in Kansas. Any tips would be great!
Thanks

Got something to say?

Rainbow, Brown, Mackinaw, and Salmon….
Well, if you have a boat with downriggers, run them for Macs. Mackinaw grow to an ENORMOUS size in that lake. Nightcrawlers and rapalas will work well. If you can get into one of those, you’ll love it!
If you’re fishing the bank, then powerbait and nightcrawlers will do just fine.
Trolling near the shoreline is more productive for Rainbow/Brown trout. Troll plugs or crawlers behind a flasher - about 80ft of line should get you back/down far enough.
There are also salmon in the lake…however, if I recall right, they don’t usaully get picked up until mid-July-ish. They run in on the south shore mainly. If you want to troll and do double duty, use trolling spoons. That will give you a decent shot at both salmon and trout.
Night crawlers are great for trout. Fish shallow.
