Got something to say?

There’s only two different sinkers that I use. One is 1/16 and the other is 1/4. 99% of the time I will use the 1/16, the reason is probably because I rarely fish in the rivers for Bass. But when I do, 1/4 is the only other one I’ll use, unless I’m fishing in some old cut-off lake on the river.
I also do alot of Bass fishing without a sinker. It all depends on the water depth and what kinda cover is around. Say for instance the water is 6 ft deep and has alot of old tree stumps on the bottom. I will "never" use a sinker in that case. Alot of people would do the oppistie, but I have caught alot of fish fishing like that.
That is a tough question because of certain ways of fishing and the types of baits used.I use very small splitshot or small bullets weights most of the time if using leads.Unless I want to peg a lure to the bottom(3/4oz) and shake it or rigged with slip rig.
I will mostly use les than 1/4oz sinkers so I can feel the bait or the fish.
My no weight rig I tie a snap swivel to tag end the use a short shank or wide gap hook for the style of fishing I will be doing.Or if I use floating baits I tie directly to hook!
That’s a broad question, but if you’re fishing with small baits for bass and trout, like earth worms and minnows, small split shot sinkers anywhere from 6-24" above your hook is a good bet. For heftier baits like lizzards, plastic worms, and the like, use a bullet weight, texas rigged. You slide the bullet weight on your line, tie on a wide-bend hook (ask your baitshop guy for help if you don’t know what they are) and rig your plastic worm weedlessly (the baitshop guy should be able to help you, always try baitshops over big stores because of the knowledge you can gain.)
Ok for bass there are many different sizes and types to use. It all depends on the fish. Some days they want a bait that falls fast and some days they want it to fall slow. It also depends on the cover if you are fishing heavy vegatation you wouldnt want to use a 1/8 or 1/16 it wont get through the grass. I generally start with a 1/4 usually a texas rig, and change accordingly.
For trout you can use what they call the White River rig.
You use say a 1/4 oz bullet weight.
Slide it on your weight on then get a barrel or snap swivel and tie a leader on it probably 12-14′ long then your hook and then your bait works great.
Good luck
If you want to know just about anything to do with fishing, then this website is one of the best I have seen. Loads of good articles which you can read or listen to.
I seem to recall that they also offer a very good free report as well. It’s well worth paying them a visit at http://www.fishinginformationguide.com . I would be interested in hearing what you think.
